Implants restore chewing function and improve dental aesthetics and oral health
Dental implants are titanium screw-shaped structures that integrate and fuse with the jawbone to replace the roots of missing teeth. Titanium fixtures allow missing teeth to be safely and comfortably restored, preventing complications arising from tooth loss, displacement of adjacent teeth (which may lead to periodontal disease), cavities, chewing difficulties and digestive problems, bone loss, and temporomandibular joint issues.
Different types of prostheses can be placed on top of the implant(s) above the gum line: from a single dental crown to partial bridges or even full dentures. These prostheses mimic the appearance and functionality of natural teeth. Implants restore chewing function while improving the aesthetics and health of the mouth, allowing patients to regain their smile.
The goal is to recreate the natural appearance of teeth and rebuild a damaged smile by placing crowns or removable prostheses on the implants.
Dental implant treatment
- Before surgery, a detailed study of the patient’s medical history and oral condition is essential.
- We use complementary diagnostic tools (X-rays, CT scans, models and photographs) to ensure maximum safety and precision throughout the treatment.
- The implant is placed under local anaesthesia through a simple and painless procedure.
- After surgery, the implant is left to rest within the bone for 2 to 5 months (depending on its location) to allow integration or fusion with the bone — a process known as osseointegration.
- Once osseointegration is completed, the necessary measurements are taken to manufacture the final prostheses, which will be attached or screwed onto the implant.
Benefits of dental implants
- They improve both the aesthetics of the smile and the functionality of the mouth.
- They restore bite and chewing ability, allowing patients to eat naturally and without pain.
- They prevent bone degeneration following tooth loss and reduce premature wear and tear of adjacent teeth.
- Made of titanium — a biocompatible material — they do not affect natural teeth or the body.
- They provide a definitive, safe and long-lasting solution to replace missing teeth without resorting to invasive or traumatic treatments.
